Gouache is such a rewarding medium to explore! Sharon will share tips to help you discover the joys of working with it:
Experimenting with Opacity: One of the unique features of gouache is its ability to be both opaque and transparent. Play around with the water-to-paint ratio to see how it can change the texture and coverage of your work.
Layering: Gouache allows for layering without lifting the previous layer, unlike watercolor. Try building up layers to create depth and richness in your paintings.
Mixing Colors: Gouache has a vibrant color palette. Experiment with mixing colors to create new shades and tones. You might be surprised by the beautiful hues you can achieve.
Using Different Surfaces: Gouache can be used on various surfaces like watercolor paper, illustration board, or even toned paper. Each surface will give your painting a different look and feel.
MATERIALS TO BRING:
Students will provide their own materials. A supply list will be sent out prior to the workshop.
