Two day workshop: Thursday, August 28 and Friday, August 29, 2025
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (1 hour lunch break)

On the first day, Mary Ann will talk about how to use a color wheel to examine color relationships and make them harmonize in a painting. She will illustrate her points with a live demo. Then later that day and the next day, students will have ample time to try their hand at creating their own color harmonious pastel paintings with Mary Ann’s guidance and help.
**Students will receive a few free sample pastels from Terry Ludwig Pastels to use and take home!
MATERIALS TO BRING
Students will provide some their own materials. A supply list will be sent out prior to the workshop.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mary Ann Pals is a pastel and charcoal artist living near the southern tip of Lake Michigan in Chesterton, IN. She regularly exhibits her work in area, national, and international shows and art fairs. She is a Signature member of three national pastel societies and has attained Master Circle status from IAPS. She has also published articles in Pastel Journal magazine several times. In 2023, she was accepted as an Artist-in-Residence for the Indiana Dunes National Park.
Mary Ann's artwork is her passion. She enjoys creating lifelike scenes that depict the natural beauty she sees around her. She has traveled extensively with her family across the US, which provide her with a rich library of visual images. Back in her studio she uses her photos and memories as a springboard to convey those special moments and her mood on paper. Mary Ann
