with Richard Jordan
Two day workshop: Thursday, July 18, and Friday, July 19, 2024
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily
$225.00
Establishing a strong start to Plein air painting is vital to the end result. Early decisions affect nearly everything that follows either in a positive or negative way. With a solid beginning an artist can truly enjoy the process of painting because the “bigger issues” have been addressed ahead of time.
If you feel you’ve been treading water and would like to push your Plein air skills to another level, here is an opportunity to learn from an artist with over 20 years experience painting exclusively en Plein air. This workshop will help you face nature head on with confidence!
Artists will work on-location both days, where Richard will work individually with each artist.
MATERIALS TO BRING
Students will provide their own materials. A supply list will be sent out prior to the workshop.
Contact Pickle Street School Studio to register.
About the Artist
Painting outdoors, directly from nature (plein air) has been the driving force of my art since 1997 and is the most significant factor in my growth as an artist. Trying to capture the unpredictable moods of nature in a few short hours is both enjoyable and challenging. It forces me to tackle complex visual problems which of course determines the outcome. Some paintings seem effortless, while others are a battle from start to finish. Over the years, I’ve come to love the process of painting outdoors as much as the finished results. Good or bad the day is never wasted, the lessons alone are worth the effort.
Kalamazoo artist, Richard Jordan has painted exclusively in plein air for over 25 years. He has taught plain air workshops since 2013.
Richard teaches private lessons in both plein air and studio painting. He has served as founder and director of the Plein Air Artists of West Michigan since 2008 and juried a number of plein air competitions in the State.
