with Richard Jordan
Two day workshop: Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17, 2022
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily
$225.00
Few landscapes attract an artist’s eye more than picturesque bodies of water. While rivers, ponds, and lakes have a simple beauty, they can be complex subjects to paint. Creating a believable surface of water as well as the illusion of transparency is a key dynamic of waterscapes.
In this two day workshop, Richard Jordan will give instruction and share demonstrations in both the classroom and on location. You will also receive plenty of one-on-one help and a group critique each day. If the water you paint is less than convincing, take this opportunity to push your plein air skills to another level and paint water with greater confidence.
MATERIALS
Students will provide their own materials. A supply list will be sent out prior to the workshop.

About the Artist
Painting outdoors, directly from nature (plein air) has been the driving force of my art since 1997 and is the most significant factor in my growth as an artist. Trying to capture the unpredictable moods of nature in a few short hours is both enjoyable and challenging. It forces me to tackle complex visual problems which of course determines the outcome. Some paintings seem effortless, while others are a battle from start to finish.
Over the years, I’ve come to love the process of painting outdoors as much as the finished results. Good or bad the day is never wasted, the lessons alone are worth the effort. There is also an emotional element to working en plein air which is very important to my energy and desire to paint. I often feel closer to God and try to fully appreciate the moment. It’s truly a gift and a blessing to work at something so rewarding.
